Backup and Recovery Assessment

A backup only matters when it can be restored

Why this assessment matters

Successful backup jobs do not prove recoverability. Retention gaps, shared credentials, untested restores and unclear recovery priorities can turn an incident into extended business interruption.

Independent and practical

We assess the environment, explain the risk in plain language and provide actions your team or existing provider can use. The work is scoped, evidence based and designed to avoid unnecessary long term dependency.

What we review

01

Backup scope, schedules, retention and job monitoring

02

Coverage of servers, cloud services and critical information

03

Restore testing and evidence of recoverability

04

Protection against deletion, compromise and ransomware

05

Recovery time and recovery point expectations

06

Ownership, escalation and disaster recovery dependencies

What you receive

  • A backup coverage and recovery capability summary
  • Identified gaps mapped to business impact
  • Prioritised resilience recommendations
  • A practical restore testing and improvement plan

How the engagement works

  1. Scope: agree systems, priorities, access and exclusions.
  2. Assess: review evidence, configurations and relevant controls.
  3. Prioritise: connect findings to business impact and urgency.
  4. Report: present clear actions and answer technical questions.

Frequently asked questions

Do you perform a restore during the assessment?

Restore evidence and existing tests are reviewed. A controlled restore test can be included when access, timing and a safe target are agreed.

Does this include Microsoft 365 backups?

It can. Microsoft 365 retention and third party backup arrangements are reviewed when they form part of the agreed scope.

Is disaster recovery the same as backup?

No. Backups provide recoverable copies of data. Disaster recovery also considers systems, dependencies, people, communications and the sequence required to resume operations.
